Gentlemen,
I finally managed to complete my Motte and Bailey last night after about 6 months, whilst Junior was sleeping and I was waiting for another project to dry. It was designed so it can be used as a camp or BUA. I'm not sure I'll do it this way in future should I make another one.
Another BUA I recently completed was of a Dark Ages or Medieval village.
I plan on making another one as there are two or three things that I would do differently such as the pond.
The water turned out a little brighter than I normally would like. Generally I like my water to have a greenish/dark blue base but this turned out a tad too bright for my liking. As it happens, I live close enough to the Murray River here in Australia to be able to see it from my backyard and so I know rivers and water generally have a muddy appearance but I like the additional bit of colour on my table.
Another thing I would also change are the trees. I am a co-owner of a small tree making business here in Australia and since making these trees we now make trees with a hint of texture which I believe look much better. |

| Top marks, they are good. How do you get the dimpled mud effect? |

Thanks for the kind words Gentlemen.
Peeler, I start of by applying white glue/PVA and scribe some tracks into it. Next sprinkle sand onto the white glue/PVA and then scribe in the tracks again with a toothpick or piece of wire. |

Well I've tried that, and it doesn't look as good as in these pics. Perhaps you have bigger sand in Aus? I'll have to try harder.... |

I think you did a fantastic job!I was thinking of doing something similar for my Normans for DBMM,but I think only half can be fortified and the rest must be unfortified.I'm not sure how to work that out. _________________ http://christopher-bunkerhill.blogspot.com/ |

Thanks for that!
I need to build a few more BUA's including another villiage. I'm currently working on a Crannog. When I say working, I really mean it's on my workbench gathering dust... |
